How to Kill Your Family is “the ultimate tale of revenge” and Netflix is already working to bring it to life next year.
Best-selling 2021 novel How to Kill Your Family from author Bella Mackie was an overnight hit and now it’s going to be transformed for the small screen.
Grace Bernard is the product of an affair billionaire Simon Artemis claims he doesn’t remember, leaving herself and her mum to fend for themselves.
“When her mother dies and Grace is rejected by the people who should love her, she transforms her anger into something useful — killing off her estranged extended family via morbidly creative means.
“Soon, Grace is clawing her way toward revenge and a hefty inheritance. But her mission pulls her away from what she really needs.”
It’s also been confirmed who will be stepping into the complicated shoes of Grace Bernard for this Netflix creation.
She will be portrayed by none other than actress Anya Taylor Joy who shot to fame as Gina Grey in seasons five and six of Peaky Blinders.
Since then, the 30-year-old has been applauded for her role as chess prodigy Beth Harmon in Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit, which also earned her a Golden Globe.
Some of her other most memorable parts have been in Split with James McAvoy, The Menu with Ralph Fiennes, Emma and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.
Taylor-Joy will be joined by other familiar faces including actors Clive Owen, David Shields and Orlanda Norman.
How to Kill Your Family wasn’t the only show to be announced by Netflix today, Wednesday, August 26, with two Top Boy spin-offs also on the way.
In addition, upcoming drama The Unheard with Kate Winslet and Maxine Peake which has been written by Adolescence co-creator Jack Thorne.
