If the recent developments are any indication, Megastar Chiranjeevi’s “Vishwambhara” will not arrive in theaters this year. The socio-fantasy has been in production for nearly three years, and its release during the Dasara 2026 season now appears to be ruled out.
The makers of Vijay Deverakonda’s “Ranabaali” reportedly got confirmation that “Vishwambhara” would not be scheduled for the Dasara festival before announcing October 16, 2026 as their release date. With that date locked, there appears to be no suitable slot for the Chiranjeevi starrer in 2026.
Chiranjeevi and director Bobby’s “Kaaka” is already scheduled for January 13, 2027. The actor is unlikely to have two releases within a gap of just two or three months, making a November or December 2026 release for “Vishwambhara” highly unlikely.
This leaves summer 2027 as the most practical window. Rajamouli’s Varanasi is scheduled to release on April 7, 2027, so Vishwambhara could target either late March or late April 2027.
Directed by Vassisht, the film has been facing delays primarily due to its extensive VFX work and the pending OTT deal. While the VFX work has reportedly been completed, the OTT deal is yet to be finalized. The prolonged delay has also reportedly put considerable financial pressure on the project.
Chiranjeevi plays the lead protagonist, with Trisha and Ashika Ranganath as the female leads. Mouni Roy is also making her Telugu debut with a special song in the film.
At this point, a summer 2027 release appears to be the most likely scenario for Vishwambhara.
