Love, humour and suspense are key elements in Romanchakam: Ananthika Sanilkumar – Telugu Cinema

Ananthika Sanilkumar

Sumanth Prabhas and Ananthika Sanilkumar play the lead pair in “Romanchakam,” produced by Pranay Reddy Vanga and directed by debutant Venugopal Reddy. The film is presented by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and is set to hit theatres on September 3. During a media interaction, Ananthika Sanilkumar spoke about her character, working with Sumanth Prabhas and what audiences can expect from the film.

Here are the excerpts:

On choosing Romanchakam

After “8 Vasantalu,” many scripts came my way and I listened to several stories, but none of them really excited me. When I heard the story of “Romanchakam,” I felt very happy and had the feeling that this was exactly the kind of film I had been wanting to do.

I play a bubbly and fun-loving Tamil girl in the film. The makers have incorporated contemporary elements that reflect what young people experience in their lives today and presented them in an engaging manner. Though it is a love story, both youth and family audiences can enjoy it.

On working with Sumanth Prabhas

Sumanth Prabhas underwent an extensive workshop for the film, while I did comparatively fewer workshops with him. His character is extremely energetic, and my character has also been designed to match his energy.

The first time I met Sumanth at the office, we spoke a lot and I immediately felt like he was a friend. We rehearsed some lengthy scenes together, which helped us develop good chemistry on screen.

On the difference from 8 Vasantalu

Compared to “8 Vasantalu,” “Romanchakam” is a completely different genre. I wanted to explore different kinds of stories and characters, and this film gave me that opportunity. There are certain scenes that I particularly enjoyed performing. Sometimes, while acting, you experience a certain happiness and genuinely feel the joy of being part of that scene. There are many such moments in this film.

On working in multiple languages

I am currently working in Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu films. I accept projects based on the opportunities that come my way. I am not ignoring any language. Whenever I get a good opportunity, I take it up.

On the three emotions in Romanchakam

Love, humour and suspense are the three strong emotions in this film. Among these, I particularly enjoyed the suspense element. Interestingly, even the suspense stems from love. How that happens is something you have to watch in the film.
