Woman who needed ‘extendable seatbelt’ on flights loses 6 stone with phone app

Tracey Mcavoy, who lives on the edge of the Peak District, credits the Simple intermittent fasting weight loss app with helping her shed 6 stone and become ‘healthier’ and ‘happier’

A British woman who previously required an ‘extendable seatbelt’ on planes has shed six stone – crediting an app called Simple for helping her become ‘healthier’ and ‘happier’. The clinically validated weight loss platform has assisted users in shedding over 18 million pounds collectively – with an 80% discount currently available.

Tracey Mcavoy revealed she weighed 22.5 stone, describing it as ‘not something (she was) proud of’. She attributes her weight gain to overeating and physical inactivity, but maintains the app has ‘changed (her) life completely’.

Tracey, who lives on the edge of the Peak District, said: “So, what got me to 22.5 stone? Overeating (and) no movement. I was a pig, I was lazy, I was addicted to food. I’d go to bed and then get up at 11 o’clock at night and have four bags of crisps, or make myself some cheese on toast.

“Enjoyed that, and then I’d make myself some more. I loved food, loved it, it was everything to me. (But with) Simple, it has just changed my life completely and retrained my brain. (I have) lost loads of weight and stopped taking half the medication I was on.”

To utilise the app, individuals simply need to complete a quiz, and Simple creates a tailored plan, featuring helpful tools including food logging via typing, voice or photograph; an intermittent fasting tracker; a NutriScanner, designed to assist users in understanding the nutritional content of meals; and daily exercise routines, encompassing yoga, pilates, HIIT, walking and Tai Chi.

Tracey reveals that she began her weight loss journey on January 4 and, while she believed she was ‘ready for giving up’, she has since shed six stone. While she acknowledges she still has a ‘long way to go’, she is embracing a ‘new way of eating (and) a new way of living’, as reported by Mirror.

She says: “Rewind to last year, we went to Turkey. I always hated flying and I had to ask for an extendable seatbelt. I couldn’t walk, I had a chronically bad back, and I was taking about 10 tablets a day for diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol.

“(Now), I feel like I’ve had a brain transplant. My whole life is different. I’m healthier, I’m happier, I look better, I feel better.

“Everyone says I look younger, my skin’s better, my hair’s more healthy. It’s just been a total eye-opener – and this is from someone that has tried every single diet under the sun.”

One of the most notable features of Simple is its in-app coach, Avo. Driven by AI, Avo serves as a personal wellness assistant capable of providing instant responses, giving users round-the-clock access to wellbeing and fitness guidance whenever required.

There’s also an emotional support feature called Blinky offering extra assistance and encouragement. Blinky is described as a furry friend who cheers when users log meals, sulks when they don’t, and spirals when ignored.

Tracey says she ‘kept asking Avo for different recipes’ and healthier substitutes for different foods. She is no longer ‘addicted to food anymore’ and would advise anyone to try Simple.

The brand does note, however, that genuine Simple users are featured who have received compensation for their candid testimonials. Individual results may vary.

As an alternative, there’s Lifesum, which enables users to monitor their meals and snacks while delivering nutritional and calorie information in-app to support weight loss. The basic version is free, with premium packages ranging from £7.49 monthly to approximately £50 annually.

There’s also MyFitnessPal, an application with over 280 million members which facilitates food tracking and supplies details on calories, macros and micronutrients. The basic version is likewise free, while premium subscriptions begin at £79.99 annually or £19.99 monthly.

Customers have taken to Trustpilot to share their opinions on the Simple app, which currently holds an overall rating of 4.3 out of five stars, earning it an ‘excellent’ classification.

One user commented: “Simple has made it easy to stay on track for losing weight, slimming down my shape, and becoming healthier. The plan is created upon individual lifestyles, is easy to follow, and promotes healthy eating.”

Another reviewer wrote: “This has been so helpful with my fasting and I love my AI coach. Definitely worth the money.”

Some users were less enthusiastic, with one noting: “I’m learning some things about nutrition and I am allowing myself to be accountable to some degree. However, my very much varied schedule does not permit me to follow much of the advice.”

On the whole, the majority of customers expressed satisfaction. One further user wrote: “Love this programme, easy to follow and I look forward to doing it everyday. Simple is the way to go.”
