Nothing is getting in the way of Catherine Zeta-Jones as she sets out for revenge in the upcoming AMC+ thriller series, Kill Jackie. In the actor’s latest project, Zeta-Jones finds herself fighting off a squad of the world’s most ruthless hitmen — The Seven Demons — who suddenly make their mark on her enigmatic character, Jackie Price. Thus, bringing demons (and old criminal instincts) from Price’s past roaring up from the depths. AMC+ announced the release date for Kill Jackie last month, but now, audiences are getting an official first look at what the show might have in store, with a new trailer drop released earlier today.
A book-to-screen adaptation based on the acclaimed novel, The Price You Pay, Zeta-Jones stars as an ex-international drug smuggler who has seemingly tried to escape her otherwise dangerous past through lavish living, fine art, and a life of traveling the world. Unfortunately for Jackie, though, it seems no one can truly outrun their past as she soon discovers that someone from her former life is now trying to kill her. Alongside Zeta-Jones, performances from actors like Daniel Ings (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, The Gentlemen series), Enzo Cilenti (Black Mirror, The Crown), and Ron Perlman (Hellboy) are also teased.
Coming from the same brilliant minds that brought us the award-winning series Killing Eve — a four-season thriller that followed the cat-and-mouse infatuation between a spy and MI5 officer — Kill Jackie has the legs to be another intriguing addition to the AMC thriller library — with Zeta-Jones’ Jackie Price seen biting people’s ears off, blowing up buildings, and fighting off elite assassins with a row of guns hidden beneath her innocuous wall art. These are just a few of the “small misunderstandings” we get to see from Jackie Price’s character in the trailer, but it is nevertheless clear that the Seven Demon assassins have picked the wrong woman to mess with.
Prior to her role in Kill Jackie, Zeta-Jones is best known recently for her role as Morticia Addams in the Netflix streaming sensation Wednesday, along with her breakout role as Elena in The Mask of Zorro and her award-winning performance in the musical film Chicago.
The eight-part revenge thriller series, Kill Jackie, will premiere exclusively on AMC+ and is set to launch on Oct. 2 — with new episodes airing weekly. According to a press statement from AMC, Kill Jackie is being co-produced by Fremantle and Steel Springs Pictures and co-created by Conor Keane, Tom Butterworth (Gangs of London), Peter Lawson (John Wick), and Damon Thomas (Killing Eve) — with Thomas also directing.
