A festival first to ‘celebrate Nuneaton’ is being held in the town centre this weekend.
The inaugural Festival of Nuneaton is taking place in Riversley Park on Saturday (September 5).
While the focus of the free event will be in the park, the festival will also expand into the town centre itself.

It will see a market staged in the park, alongside the traditional Saturday market, in the town centre.
There will also be live music and arts and crafts held throughout the event, which is aimed at celebrating the best of Nuneaton.
It is the brainchild of the new Towns Board for Nuneaton and has largely been funded through sponsorship.
It is set to become a yearly event explained Councillor Nicky King, who said: “The Festival of Nuneaton is an exciting new addition to our town’s calendar and a fantastic opportunity to celebrate everything that makes Nuneaton special.
“From live performances and creative activities to local traders and community organisations, this festival will showcase the talent, energy and pride that exists across our town.
“Most importantly, it is a chance for people to come together, enjoy a wonderful day in Riversley Park and celebrate Nuneaton’s rich heritage, thriving community spirit and bright future.
“I would encourage everyone to save the date and join us on Saturday 5 September for what promises to be a memorable day for Nuneaton.”
Partners for the festival include Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, Warwickshire County Council, Nuneaton BID, Warwickshire CAVA, Aspire in Arts, The Abbey Theatre, Boxing Clever Academy, Art Alert, Escape Arts, Rope Walk, George Eliot Fellowship, Nuneaton’s Hampton by Hilton and Saints.
Jodie Gosling, the town’s MP, has also thrown her support behind it and said: “I’m pleased to support the Festival of Nuneaton and the fantastic work being carried out by the Towns Board and its partners to bring this event to life.
“Nuneaton is a town with a rich heritage, incredible community spirit and an abundance of local talent. This festival will be a wonderful opportunity to showcase all that our town has to offer, while bringing residents, businesses, community groups and visitors together in celebration.
“The strength of this event lies in the collaboration behind it, with organisations from across Nuneaton working together to create something special for local people. I am proud to support the Festival of Nuneaton and look forward to seeing Riversley Park come alive on 5 September.”
