Owners said that running two business at once had become ‘very difficult’
A “lovely” Leicestershire cafe has closed its doors with immediate effect.
The Green House Coffee Shop, in Thringstone’s The Green, made the announcement on Thursday (September 3), with owners Carly and Danny revealing said it “hasn’t been easy” to draw the curtain on the coffee shop business.
Also responsible for running the Gardeners’ Rest tea room at Thurlaston Garden Centre, the pair added it had grown “very difficult” to manage two businesses at once.
In a message shared to customers, Carly said: “After a lot of thought, Danny and I have made the very difficult decision to close the doors of The Green House Coffee Shop.
“This hasn’t been an easy decision for us at all. We are incredibly grateful to every single person who has visited, supported us, recommended us and been part of our journey. Your support has genuinely meant so much to both of us.
“Unfortunately, running two businesses has become very difficult to manage, and we’ve had to make the decision to concentrate all of our time and energy on one.
“This means we’ll be returning our focus to the garden centre and our restaurant there.”
Carly and Danny said they are looking forward to “putting everything we have” into their garden centre eatery, which serves waffles, afternoon tea and more.
It was added that anybody who has vouchers to redeem at The Green House Coffee Shop will be able to use them at Gardeners’ Rest.
Carly said: “Although we’re sad to be closing this chapter, we’re also looking forward to putting everything we have into the Garden Centre, and we really hope to see lots of familiar faces there.
“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your support, kindness and encouragement. It has meant more to us than you know.”
The news has shocked many customers who said the closure was a “sad” day for Thringstone.
One person said: “So sorry Carly, such sad news! Lovely little cafe!! But you definitely have to prioritise what’s best for you all. The garden centre cafe is gorgeous though, would highly recommend!! Afternoon teas are amazing.”
A second customer said: “Sad to hear, but understandable. While capable, capacity is also important. I wish you continued success.”
A third added: “So sorry to hear that. I used to love getting my coffee when walking to the shop and back. All the best for the future x.”
