‘The picture remains sharp enough to clearly see our daughter sleeping, while the night vision is bright without disturbing her’
Parenting technology has come a long way, and many parents are finding a premium baby monitor which records both video and sound to be a valuable addition to their households. Now, one such baby monitor has been discounted by 20% on Amazon in a limited time deal, and shoppers have described it as “excellent”.
The momcozy BM04 Dual-Mode Smart Baby Monitor, which comes complete with a five-inch screen and a camera unit, is now £159.99 down from £199.99 at Amazon. It connects to a smartphone app, giving parents visibility on their child any time, anywhere through the 1080p HD camera with night vision with an almost-300m range, and it boasts 20 hours of battery life.
There is two-way audio, meaning it’s possible to speak with the child remotely, and the app can also provide instant notifications when the baby moves or leaves a designated safe area. Plus, there’s the option to save photos or videos any time – so if the camera captures a milestone, parents can save the precious memory.
As an alternative, Argos has the VTech VM4254 3.5 Inch Video Baby Monitor for £35 down from £50, which has a 3.5 inch colour LCD screen and infrared night vision for 24/7 monitoring. This one also has two-way talk, and up to 300m range.
Currys also has the LEAPFROG LF5817HD 7″ Over‑the‑Cot Smart Baby Monitor for £229.99 down from £259.99, which has a seven-inch HD screen, a multi-colour night light, and can be set up over a cot with its stand for a top-down view. The battery lasts up to 13 hours, and it can also play soothing lullabies and ambient sounds to help get baby off to sleep.

However, the momcozy BM04 Dual-Mode Smart Baby Monitor has lots of rave reviews from shoppers. One buyer said: “Great first monitor. With a crystal clear picture and great sound detection.”
Another shopper said: “The video quality is excellent, both during the day and at night. The picture remains sharp enough to clearly see our daughter sleeping, while the night vision is bright without disturbing her. Motion and cry detection have both worked reliably, sending useful notifications without constantly triggering false alarms.
“Being able to view the camera through the app while away from home gives extra reassurance, and the two-way audio is clear enough to comfort our daughter if needed before we reach her room. The recording options are another welcome addition for reviewing events if required.”
Another added: “After trying a few different brands, the Momcozy stands out for its incredible display. The colours are vibrant and the image is sharp, making it so much easier to see if my little one is actually asleep or just staring at the ceiling.
“The monitor unit lasts surprisingly long on a single charge, which is great for moving it around the house during nap times. I love that this doesn’t use WiFi, it’s a direct, secure connection so I never have to worry about privacy or internet outages. The camera movement is whisper-quiet and very responsive. A top-tier choice for any new parent.”
One buyer did note that the stand needs to be mounted: “Good audio and picture quality. Stand for the camera unless mounted isn’t ideal however a minor issue, overall good product.”
Another said as part of a longer review: “The split screen mode is the game changer I didn’t know I needed; I can watch both cots side by side while sipping tea in the kitchen, pretending I’m in a security booth. The choice between the monitor’s own signal and the phone app is handy, I keep the app for when I’m on the late train home yet my wife prefers the dedicated screen for its solid range, it still holds at the bottom of the garden.
“Night vision is clear, two way audio sounds natural, battery lasts a full night. “I’d love slightly louder volume steps, hence the four stars.”
