Nicola Peltz dedicated her Rising Star award at the Venice Film Festival to her husband Brooklyn Beckham. The actress, 31, who tied the knot with the eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham in 2022, scooped the prestigious gong at the Kinéo Awards, an independent ceremony at the annual festival.
In recent times, Nicola has become estranged from her in-laws and earlier this year Brooklyn released a bombshell statement explained why he had decided publicly disown his family.
But at the glamorous event in Italy, Nicola, who stars as a dedicated prima ballerina Margo in Prima, gave a gracious speech where she made sure to name-check her co-stars, her family, and her husband.
Collecting her award, she said: “Hi everyone. I am normally more comfortable playing a character as an actor than standing in front of an audience, so please bear with me. Thank you so much for this immense honour.
“To receive an award at the Venice Film Festival is something I will carry with me for the rest of my career.” Nicola then went on to speak out about her Prima co-star, Faye Dunaway, as she said: “Faye you have always been an inspiration to me and learning with you has been incredible.”
It was then that Nicola, who is also known for her roles in Bates Motel and Transformers: Age of Extinction, thanked her family and husband specifically.
She addded:”My family are my everything. My mum, dad, (brothers) Diesel and Brad and Brooklyn thank you. You always believe in me. To have your support is the reason I can reach to the stars in the first place,” the Daily Mail reports.
It comes just as Brooklyn’s brother Cruz, who has carved out a successful music career as the frontman of The Breakers, showed just how close-knit the Beckams are as his brother Romeo, sister Harper, 15, their parents, Jackie, as well as Romeo’s girlfriend Kim Turnbull all posed together backstage ahead of his gig at Leeds Festival . He simply captioned the post with a heart emoji.
Brooklyn accused his parents of manipulating his life, trying to sabotage his relationship with wife Nicola and damaging his mental health in their quest to keep ‘brand Beckham’ moving along.
In a scathing statement in January, he took aim at the pair and alleged that they have ‘controlled narratives’ about the famous family, calling out their ‘performative social media posts’ and ‘inauthentic relationships’.”
“My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped,” he said at the time. “The night before our wedding, members of my family told me that Nicola was ‘not blood’ and ‘not family’.
“My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song. In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead. She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone.
“I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life. We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment.”
Brooklyn and Nicola later renewed their vows last August in a secret service in Westchester – although his family were not thought to be in attendance, it was said to be overseen by the bride’s dad, Nelson Peltz.
