This weekend saw the release of as many as five films, including Romanchakam, Ramba Oorvashi Menaka and Saha.
Apart from these Telugu releases, two prominent dubbed films — Dulquer Salmaan’s I’m Game and Mamitha Baiju’s Bethlehem Kudumba Unit — also arrived in theatres.
With so many films competing for screens and audience attention, only Romanchakam has managed to make a notable impact at the box office so far, while the others are struggling.
This is what usually happens when too many films arrive during the same weekend. However, a similar situation is set to repeat next week, with several films targeting the extended holiday period around the Ganesh festival, which falls on September 14.
On September 10, Karthi’s Sardar 2 will hit screens. The sequel to the successful Sardar has generated decent buzz.
On the same day, Ravi Teja’s nephew Madhav will make his debut as a lead actor with Maremma, a rural drama. Suhas’ Tamil film Mandaadi is also scheduled to release on September 10.
These three films will clash on Thursday.
On September 11, Anand Deverakonda and Vaishnavi Chaitanya, who became a popular pair following the success of Baby, will return with their new love story EPIC. The promotional content has received a positive response so far.
Sumanth’s devotional thriller Mahendragiri Varahi is also scheduled to release on the same day.
Apart from these films, two other small movies are also eyeing the same weekend. Altogether, around seven films are expected to compete for screens during the Ganesh festival weekend.
With so many releases packed into a single holiday period, the competition for screens and audience attention is expected to be intense.
