A 62-year-old migrant worker was allegedly beaten to death in Chennai’s Nolambur area following a drunken ruckus, police said. The deceased has been identified as Abhijit Mondal, who was employed as a construction worker. Four people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
According to the police, the incident took place on September 5 when the accused allegedly went to a spot where several construction workers, including Mondal, were residing. The accused were reportedly under the influence of alcohol and allegedly created a ruckus at the location while demanding cigarettes and liquor.
Worker Beaten During Drunken Ruckus
During the chaos, Mondal was allegedly assaulted by the accused. He sustained serious injuries and was immediately taken to Kilpauk Government Hospital for treatment. Despite receiving medical attention, his condition deteriorated and he succumbed to his injuries the following day.
Following his death, police registered a case and began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the assault. The four accused have since been arrested.
Four Arrested In Connection With Death
The arrested accused have been identified as Vaseegaran, Ajay, Gokulraj and Sabari. Police are questioning the accused as part of the investigation and are looking into the sequence of events that led to Mondal’s death.
