Cosy heated throw dubbed ‘a must’ ahead of energy price hikes now 30% off

‘A great way to keep warm – it heats up quickly and retains warmth for ages’

With summer over, it’s only a matter of time before the nights get colder and, with the energy price cap rising by 4% from October, many shoppers will be looking for a way to stay warm without spending a fortune on their energy bills. A heated throw could be the answer, as it can provide localised warmth that lingers even after it’s been turned off, and could save shoppers from needing to turn on the heating as much.

Now, at Amazon, the Silentnight Luxury Super Cosy Heated Throw is £42 down from £59.99, saving shoppers 30% in a deal that makes it Amazon’s lowest price on the item in 30 days. The discounted throw is in a rich autumnal Berry shade, while other colourways are available at higher prices.

With nine heat settings for optimum temperature control, the Silentnight Luxury Super Cosy Heated Throw is made from sherpa fleece for a cosy, luxurious feel. It will automatically shut off after two hours for safety measures, 160cm x 120cm, and it can be machine-washed for easy care.

If shoppers would prefer a different design, they could take a look at the StaySnug Grey Tartan Sherpa Heated Throw, which costs £54.99 from Lakeland. The brand says it costs on average 26p a day to run, and this one also has nine heat settings and is machine washable.

Alternatively, the Deyongs Woodlands Folk Wine Heated Sherpa Throw Blanket is now £49.75 down from £130 at Yimbly, an online marketplace owned by WalesOnline’s parent company Reach PLC. Measuring 140cm x 180cm, this one is in a wine red with a woodland creature design and is machine washable.

However, shoppers who have bought the Silentnight Luxury Super Cosy Heated Throw from Amazon have left positive reviews. One said: “I am very satisfied with my new heated throw. It’s a great way to keep warm if you have to sit still for a time.

“It heats up quickly and retains warmth for ages if you turn it off once it’s warmed up. There is a wide range of heat settings and it looks nice, too; it’s soft and I like the colour I chose.

“The only thing I would change is the cable because it’s quite clunky and would be less so if it were lighter. However, I think it’s a ‘must’ for anyone who feels the cold – given soaring energy costs.”

Another noted its efficiency as part of a longer review. They said: “Another big plus is how economical it is to run. It genuinely costs pennies per hour, making it a very energy efficient way to keep warm without having to heat the whole house. I tested it and found that it cost me around 3p per hour to use, which is about 2p more than advertised, but still extremely efficient and far cheaper than having the central heating on.”

A third added: “Great for keeping bills down in the winter and pets love it too! Doesn’t look like an old lady blanket – it’s soft and fluffy, stylish and easy to use. Good value for money with nine heat settings. Very cosy and comfortable!”

However, one shopper noted the wire can get in the way: “Very cosy and gets warm quite quickly after the first use. Does what it says. Only reason it doesn’t have a five star, wire can get in the way but honestly can’t see a way around it. Otherwise fab blanket that does the job.”

Another said: “Lovely colour, I went for the green, size is also good for one. Downside was not very thick or fluffy. Easy to operate and does get very toasty.”

The Silentnight Luxury Super Cosy Heated Throw is available from Amazon.
