Star Wars faces the start of a new era that is filled with potential as three new releases on Disney+ show where the space opera franchise could head next. Star Wars is the sci-fi universe that keeps on giving. Based on Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu‘s box office, it is clear that a theatrical move did not work for Pascal’s character, but the original show continues to be a hit on Disney+, as data shared by Luminate in August revealed that all three seasons of The Mandalorian were among the most-watched TV shows on Disney+ for the first semester of 2026, despite the fact that the Star Wars series has not released a new episode since April 19, 2023.
Additionally, all 3 The Mandalorian-related releases on Disney+ in September are also global streaming hits. Based on that, going back to what worked for the Star Wars franchise through The Mandalorian season 4 and making it way better than the divisive season 3, which holds a disappointing 51% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, is the best possible course of action for Star Wars when it comes to how to continue the story of Pascal’s Din Djarin and the adorable Grogu.
