Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are back in the headlines following their return to the U.K.
It was announced in August that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were returning to Britain less than six years after stepping down from their roles within the royal family. Few details about their return and the reason they moved back to the country they said they were forced to flee have been released, but it is clear that they will not be working for the royal family again.
As for their new residence, they are living at a private 83-acre estate in the Cotswolds region of Southern England. The Cotswolds has been dubbed “The Hamptons of Britain” and several high-profile stars own homes there, including Hugh Grant, Kate Moss, Patrick Stewart, Ellen DeGeneres, and David and Victoria Beckham.
The Sussexes and the Beckhams had a falling out several years back, but now it’s reported that Meghan wants to make things right with Victoria.
A source spoke to The Globe, sharing that the duchess is desperate to repair her relationship with the fashion designer now, explaining, “Out of all the rejections and broken friendships [Meghan’s] had to deal with, this is the one that probably stings the most. Meghan really believed she and Victoria were friends for life, and she still thinks that the argument that tore them apart was fueled by the media and other troublemakers at the time.”
For those who don’t know remember, the reason for the rift between the couples is due to accusations that Victoria was leaking stories about Meghan to the media. When the Suits alum first moved to London with Harry, Victoria was giving her names of her favorite hairdressers, stylists, and spas to go to in and around the city. But when the tabloids started to print stories about the help Meghan was receiving, she believed Victoria was sharing information with the press and had Harry call David to ask about it. The accusation and questioning from the prince left David “furious.”
It was also claimed in Tom Bower’s book Revenge that Harry asked David to fly 22 hours to Australia to attend an Invictus Games event with him but had no intention of meeting him there. According to Bower, Harry decided to keep his distance because Meghan did not want any “competition” in the media from David or Victoria.
It’s not that far-fetched to think that Meghan would want to smooth things over with Victoria now that she is back in the U.K. and living in the Cotswolds. However, it’s important to remember that the report Meghan is hoping to repair their friendship is from an anonymous source and there hasn’t been any other word that the two women have spoken at all since the duchess returned to England.
What is known is that Harry is working on repairing his relationship with his father, and King Charles and David are quite close. The former soccer star even serves as an ambassador for the King’s Foundation. Therefore, some believe that the two men may be able to come together and put their differences aside for the monarch, which would then make things easier for Meghan and Victoria to start rebuilding their friendship.
