Jessie J has revealed that she will be taking a step back from the spotlight to undergo her second cancer reconstruction surgery.

Jessie J has revealed that she is taking a step back from social media to focus on herself and her son, ahead of her second cancer reconstruction surgery.
The Price Tag singer, 38, previously went under the knife for a mastectomy and, in May, announced that she was cancer free 11 months after receiving her initial diagnosis.
Taking to Instagram, she confirmed that she would be ‘tapping out’ from social media to ‘recharge, heal and process’ and spend time with her son Sky – who she shares with ex Chanan Colman – following an incredibly tough two years.
“I want to start this post off by saying I am ok. I am not at my best but very far from my worst. I know people can twist these kinds of posts. It’s no secret that the last 2 years have been magical, successful, life changing and extremely busy,” she began a lengthy post.
“I have loved the last 2 years mostly, hated it in moments and learnt the most I have ever learnt about myself and what I want from my life and mostly what I want it to FEEL like.”
Jessie then listed a few things that she has faced in the last two years, including her devastating breast cancer diagnosis, as well as her latest album and tour, returning back to the UK, raising her son and going through a break-up.
“Rightly so (it would be weird if it hadn’t. The past 2 years has taken a toll on parts of me that I haven’t had time to give space and grace to. Now’s the time. Work has slowed down. So healing speeds up please,” she continued.
“So I’m tapping out of this [world] for a while and into my real one. To give my mind, body and heart a well needed hug. To finally have my second cancer reconstruction surgery, to recharge, heal, to rest, to process, to love on myself and my boy, to water the next chapter of my life and most importantly be present and really live.
“I never feel I can really give that side the energy and time it deserves when it’s needed while staying on socials and my phone so much. A digital cleanse it is.
“I’m posting this for the people who would give AF that I haven’t posted or been active for a while. The people who have followed, supported, loved and cared on me and for me during this journey. Thank you for holding me up. So go easy in the comments serious Sallys.
“Might pop on every now and again for work commitments (which sometimes will be my team) but other than that. See you when feels right. Love you all.”
Right on cue, fans rushed to share their support over Jessie’s decision to step back, with one replying: “It’s time to relax and live your best life for yourself right now. We love you and support you, stay safe and strong, that’s our (heartbeats) wish for you!”
“We are here for you when you comeback. Be good to you and wishing you love and strength,” an Instagram user agreed.
A follower said: “We love you and will be here whenever you’re ready. Take your time, take care of yourself and have fun with that sweet baby boy.”
“It’s your time now, thank you for an unforgettable summer. See you when you’re ready, rocking and rolling my girl,” another penned.
Sliding into the comments, Jessie added: “Love you all so much. Thank you for holding me up and giving me so much support in this wild time of my life. Truly.”
The mum-of-one was first diagnosed with early breast cancer in 2025, and told fans of the news when explaining she was going under the knife for a mastectomy.
“Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding on to the word ‘early’,” the Who You Are musician said at the time. “I just wanted to be open and share it. One, because, selfishly, I do not talk about it enough. I’m not processing it because I’m working so hard.
“I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories. I’m an open book. It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much similar and worse – that’s the bit that kills me.
“Honestly I need to process it and talk about it and, I need a hug. You have loved me through all my good and hard times. And I don’t want this to be any different.”
Jessie later detailed how the diagnosis had ‘changed her whole world’, including the ‘battles’ she would pick going forward.
Just a few months ago, she confirmed that she had been given the all clear from doctors. In an emotional post, she added: “RESULTS ARE IN AND I AM CANCER FREE!! I sobbed for hours and then exhaled for the first time in a year.”
