With summer behind us, shoppers are looking for ways to make their homes as warm and welcoming as possible to lean into the start of autumn. Lighting is one simple way to do so, and picking the right source can create an inviting ambience without having to spend a fortune.
We’ve spotted a unique 2-in-1 design that’s not only an attractive light, but a shelving unit, too. The Hom Com Modern Floor Lamp comes fitted with three shelves, as well as a top cross-hatched shade that emits a lovely glow when switched on.
At Yimbly, a retailer owned by this publication’s parent company Reach Plc, the lamp has been reduced to £31.63 down from £36.99 with the code AUTUMN10. This beats the price of the same lamp at a number of retailers, including Debenhams and Amazon.
The top lamp provides overhead lighting for reading, working and other hobbies, while the shelves offer storage for items including books, plants and home accessories. A tall and narrow design makes it easy to fit into corners, so it doesn’t take up much space for those with limited room.
The lamp is stocked in a dark or a light brown at Yimbly, so homeware fans can get a wood finish that fits into their existing interiors. Buyers will have to purchase a lightbulb separately as it does not come included.
Innovative lamps that double up as shelves can also be found elsewhere. At Dunelm, the Georgi Shelved Corner Floor Lamp (£115) comes in natural and black, with three shelves and a modern lamp shade at the top. It’s specifically designed to slot into the corner of a room.
For a more traditional lamp shade look, there’s also an option from Habitat. The Mango Wood Shelved Floor Lamp (£115) features a solid mango frame with a simple cotton linen shade to diffuse the light and two shelves for belongings.
But, at a fraction of the price coming in at £31.63, the Hom Com Modern Floor Lamp at Yimbly has been hailed ‘great value’. While there are no reviews on the Yimbly website, Amazon has plenty.
One person said: “This is gorgeous and lights up the corner perfectly. So glad I found it, it’s just what we were looking for. Seen a few different ones, but this is the best quality and look.”
Buyers have left some warnings, with someone sharing: “Make sure you read instructions. Amazing lamp. Great to store some books and other household items, very pretty lamp.”
Another person noted: “I love it! It enhances the beauty of my living room. Please note that when assembling or putting it together, ensure you don’t over-tighten the screws, as this could cause issues.”
Someone gave the lamp five stars, explaining: “I couldn’t be happier, it’s really pretty when lit because of the design, and I love the little pull cord. The shelves are sturdy and hold a few ornaments, and the design is so unique. It’s super light to move around and works with remote control lightbulbs.”
