John Legend has frustrated me for years.
He started out with a hot debut album, then sort of fell into a middle of the road track. He’s so talented as a singer and pianist, but his music sounded more and more like something in a dentist’s office.
Again, whenever I saw him live at a charity function, he was excellent.
So now he’s dropped his best single in years. “Daylight” is a collaboration with Pharrell Williams. They’ve made a whole album together called “Muse,” which will come in next month. If “Daylight” is representative, John may have his first big hit in years.
