And the Electrolux Soup Maker in grey (£72.99 at Currys) offers a few more advanced functions. This one has a 1.6 litre capacity, can cook and blend in one and allows shoppers to prepare smoothies, sauces and baby food too.
The Morphy Richards Soup Maker has got high ratings from shoppers, with one writing in their review: “The 1.6L soup maker is brilliant, so easy to use, easy instructions to follow. I made chicken vegetable soup for my very first attempt. I chose the chunky option, it was delicious and so, so easy to make.
“I then chose the clean option once all the soup had been eaten. This too was very easy to use. I would highly recommend this soup maker, after years of me doing it the old-fashioned way, cooking the ingredients and then blending the cooked ingredients – thank you, Murphy Richards, you have now saved me so much time.”

Some disagreed slightly, with one saying: “Good soup maker, but I find the keep warm function limited; it only works until you open the appliance, and then you lose the keep warm function. That means you can’t take a portion out of the soup and leave it to rest on warm. Not a big deal, but enough to reduce my rating from five stars to four stars.”
Another added: “I’ve only used this a few times, it made nice soup. Smoothies don’t seem to be as good but that could be me, also the power cord is a little fiddly – it seems like it’s in but it’s not, that’s why I only gave it 4 stars.”
