Telugu YouTuber Rama Nandana, popularly known as Nandu, was detained at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad on September 7 after an Andhra Pradesh Police Look Out Circular flagged her arrival from the UK.
She was subsequently handed over to Ibrahimpatnam police in connection with an alleged job and visa fraud case.
The case also names her husband, Jagarlamudi Madhukar, and his father, Mohan Rao. Police allege that the couple collected money by promising London jobs, visa renewals and Certificates of Sponsorship.
Nandana has denied the allegations, maintaining that neither she nor Madhukar didn’t commit any crime and that their names were allegedly misused by the media. The couple has also approached the Telangana High Court seeking to quash the FIR.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that Nandana was questioned by Ibrahimpatnam police on Tuesday and was asked to appear again on September 16.
She reportedly told investigators that Madhukar handled the consultancy-related affairs.
Amid speculation that Madhukar could return to India to face questioning, his whereabouts have not been officially confirmed.
Whether he returns voluntarily and faces further police action remains to be seen as the investigation progresses.
Sources say that he would land in Hyderabad any time soon this week, looking at the way his wife is facing the tough tide amidst media attention.
