Bunnie Xo and Jelly Roll decided to divorce earlier this year. She said that this was incredibly difficult for her, as she wanted to work on their marriage. Bunnie said that in the immediate aftermath of their divorce, she struggled to eat, resulting in major weight loss. While she has been open about the split, she doesn’t want it to define her.
Bunnie Xo said she struggled after her divorce from Jelly Roll
Bunnie said that she struggled to eat after her divorce. Her team had to resort to drastic measures to get her nutrients.
“There was moments when my team had to pick me up off the floor and give me IVs,” she said on Jenna Bush Hager’s Open Book podcast. “Because I wasn’t eating. I was eating baby food to get by.”
Because of this, she lost a significant amount of weight.
“I lost 20 pounds,” she said. “Heartbreak, man, it’s the best freaking diet.”

Jelly Roll filed for divorce shortly before the couple hit 10 years of marriage. Bunnie said this devastated her.
“I don’t want people to think I’m just out here like just acting like she doesn’t hurt,” she said. “Yeah, it hurt. And I talked about it, and I let viewers in.”
Bunnie previously opened up about her divorce on an episode of her Dumb Blonde podcast. She later deleted that episode because she didn’t want to keep living in it.
“And also I don’t want to be the freakin’ poster child for divorce,” she said. “There’s nothing hot about that. It’s a very devastating situation anybody has to go through. Families get broken up, hearts get broken. It’s time to move on.”
Bunnie Xo shared what led to her divorce
On the since-deleted episode, Bunnie spoke about the fight that led to the end of her marriage.
“On Mother’s Day, we had a little bit of an argument, which I don’t think the details are necessary, and in that argument, I was so fed up and so tired that I just looked at him and said, ‘Well, then file the f***ing divorce papers,’” she said. “And in our relationship, that is the one cardinal thing you don’t say, even though my husband has said it numerous times, ’cause he’s the runner.”
She didn’t speak to Jelly Roll for weeks after this. During their time apart, he filed for divorce.
“Was I blindsided? Was this divorce mutual? No, it was not mutual, even though I told him to file the divorce papers, I was speaking out of anger and just frustration,” she said. “But was it necessary for us to have a wake-up call? … Absolutely. … My husband and I are ending this marriage on the best possible terms that you could ever have in a divorce.”
Still, she said that she considered him her best friend.
