Three restaurants in Nottinghamshire and two in Lincolnshire will be shutting for good

Five East Midlands branches of the restaurant chain Beefeater are among 106 UK venues which will close their doors for the final time on Thursday, September 10.
The Beefeater chain’s three restaurants in Nottinghamshire – in Millers Barn in Cinderhill Road, Nottingham, Roman Way in Newark and The Dukes in Worksop – will be shutting for good.
Two Lincolnshire branches – at Mill Lodge, on Lincoln Road in Lincoln, and The Anchor, in Scunthorpe – will also be closing for the final time.
Earlier this week, owner Whitbread, closed all Brewers Fayre’s branded pub-restaurants as part of plans to cut costs by £250m.
The hotel and restaurant owner announced the closures this year as it shifts focus to hotel operation.
Thanking its customers, Beefeater said: “On the 10th September, Beefeater is officially closing its doors across all locations.
“Since ’74, we’ve had the joy of serving up legendary steaks and grills, unbeatable deals, and countless family moments.
“We are so grateful to everyone who made our restaurants feel like a second home. Thank you for 50 iconic years.”
Several of the Beefeater and Brewers Fayre premises nationwide will be converted into roughly 600 extra Premier Inn hotel rooms, while the other sites are “expected to be sold as going concerns”.
Regarding the impact on employees, Whitbread said: “We recognise the impact of this proposal on colleagues who work at the affected sites.
“As a business which recruits around 15,000 people every year, we expect to be able to retain a significant proportion of those affected and will be looking to redeploy as many of our impacted colleagues as possible.
“However, we do anticipate that the proposed changes, which are subject to consultation, would result in a reduction of around 3,800 roles of a total UK and Ireland workforce of around 30,000. We will do all we can to support those colleagues affected.”
