Tom Hiddleston is best known worldwide as the former Asgardian trickster—now the God of Stories—Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but his impressive filmography spans multiple genres. In 2024, the English thespian famously starred in a film adaptation of Stephen King’s novella The Life of Chuck, and the following year, the actor returned to the theater in a production of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. But while Hiddleston has quickly amassed a number of film and stage credits, it’s his decade-old television series that continues to captivate audiences around the world.
The hit television series, The Night Manager, debuted in the UK on BBC One in February 2016. Ten years after its premiere, the widely celebrated spy thriller series, praised for its smart writing and engaging story, is receiving a rare release to further cement its legacy before the next chapter arrives on screens.
According to Blu-ray.com, the second season of The Night Manager has scored a physical media release. Fifth Season, in association with Amazon Prime Video, the espionage saga’s sophomore outing will hit shelves as a two-disc Blu-ray set on Nov. 17, 2026. The six-episode season premiered in January 2026, arriving ten years after the first. The original season followed luxury hotel manager Jonathan Pine (Hiddleston) he was recruited by a task force to infiltrate an illegal arms dealer’s inner circle. Besides Hiddleston, the series’ cast also boasts the talents of Hugh Laurie, Olivia Colman, and Tom Hollander.
Based on John le Carré’s novel of the same name, The Night Manager began as a miniseries that aired on BBC One in the UK and AMC in the US. Its first season became a staggering critical success, with Hiddleston, Laurie, and Colman winning Golden Globes for their respective performances. The season also picked up two Primetime Emmy Awards for its directing and music composition. The second season follows Pine, now an MI6 officer, as he goes undercover to investigate a Colombian arms dealer and a local businesswoman.
The second season received critical acclaim with an 86% score on Rotten Tomatoes versus the first season’s slightly higher 91% rating, showing that the acclaimed thriller successfully maintained its elite status even after nearly a decade off the air between the two seasons. The second installment was directed by Georgi Banks-Davies and developed from scripts by returning writer David Farr, who steered the narrative into entirely uncharted territory by crafting an original continuation beyond the source material. To match this massive new plot, the production established an international footprint, filming in several locations around the world, including London, Colombia, Spain, France, and Wales. Hiddleston, Laurie, and Colman were all on board for the second installment of the premium thriller, with Hiddleston and Laurie also serving as executive producers on the series.
The Night Manager has already been renewed for a third season by the BBC and Prime Video. No production start date or premiere date has been announced yet.
