Mirzapur The Movie has completed its first week at the box office and has emerged as a Super Hit. The Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, and Pankaj Tripathi starrer has maintained a solid pace since opening in theatres on September 4. After a big opening weekend, the film saw consistent numbers during the weekdays and managed to cross the Rs 150 crore net mark on Day 7.
Mirzapur Clocks Rs 150 Crore In First Week
Mirzapur The Movie opened with Rs 27.85 crore on Friday, showing the massive popularity of the franchise. The film then recorded an even bigger Saturday with Rs 32.50 crore. Sunday brought another major jump as the movie earned Rs 36.50 crore, taking its first weekend total to Rs 96.85 crore.
The film naturally witnessed a drop after the weekend, but it continued to remain steady on the following days. Monday saw the movie collect Rs 17.10 crore, followed by Rs 15.60 crore on Tuesday. The numbers remained healthy on Wednesday as well, with the film adding another Rs 12.50 crore.
Thursday marked the end of the first week, with Mirzapur The Movie earning Rs 8 crore (at the time of writing). This takes its cumulative total to over Rs 150 crore. Globally, the film has breached the Rs 200 crore mark.
Mirzapur Braves Hanuman Ansh Wave
One of the biggest talking points around Mirzapur The Movie‘s box office run has been the competition from Hanuman Ansh. The Neem Karoli Baba-based devotional film has been enjoying an unusually strong theatrical run and has continued to attract audiences even weeks after its release.
Despite the wave, Mirzapur has managed to hold its ground. The film benefited from the huge popularity of the original Mirzapur series and the excitement around seeing its characters on the big screen. The competition could become more important in the second week, as Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan starrer Haiwaan will enter theatres.
