Over on Rotten Tomatoes, one viewer wrote, “They should have left it at Why Did I get Married Too !!! This film was a horrible watch!!!”
Another viewer on X chimed in, “I tried watching Why Did I Get Married Again and turned that shit off not even 30 minutes in.”
But on the flip side, plenty of viewers are genuinely into it.
“This was a great feel good about ourselves movie,” one RT commenter wrote. Another shared, “I thoroughly enjoyed Why Did I Get Married Again.”
There is, however, one thing viewers on both sides seem to agree on: Janet Jackson’s absence. In the first two films Janet played Dr. Patricia Agnew, a psychologist, part of the core group of college friends who gather to work on the struggles and strengths of their marriages.
“Janet Jackson not being in this movie certainly changed the dynamic and felt like a different movie,” one person said. Another noted, “Although, I missed Janet Jackson’s character, the way Taraji’s character got added made sense to me.”
