City breaks

Autumn is peak season for quick European city trips, with budget-friendly short-haul options operating direct from Birmingham.

Dublin

The most frequent short-haul route out of BHX, Dublin is ideal for weekend city breaks and cultural events. Just an hour away, the city is perfect for pub sessions in Temple Bar, autumn walks through Phoenix Park, and lively Halloween and autumn cultural festivals.

Kraków

One of Poland’s most popular autumn destinations, it’s known for affordable city breaks, historical tours, and early festive markets. Autumn brings crisp air and golden leaves to Planty Park surrounding the Old Town, alongside easy day trips to the historic Wieliczka Salt Mine and Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Malta

A top pick for October trips, Malta offers mild Mediterranean autumn weather, coastal walking trails, and rich history around Valletta. Autumn drops temperatures to a comfortable 22C to 25C making it ideal for walking the historic, golden-limestone streets of Valletta or hiking along the Dingli Cliffs.

Palma de Mallorca and Ibiza

As peak summer clubbing seasons wrap up, the Balearic Islands transition into popular autumn retreats for hiking, cycling, and quiet beach visits. Coastal towns like Palma retain mild sunshine, with beaches remaining quiet and restaurants far easier to book.

Faro and Algarve Coast

Portugal’s southern coast remains a prime autumn destination for golf trips and coastal breaks. Autumn brings green landscapes, ideal golf conditions across Vilamoura, and pleasant weather for hiking coastal paths like the Seven Hanging Valleys.

Canary Islands

A reliable year-round destination that sees heavy traffic from BHX for autumn half-term family holidays. Autumn features warm Atlantic breezes, volcanic landscapes in Timanfaya National Park, and clear water for surfing and diving.

Antalya

A major seasonal hub for Turkish coastal resorts offering warm sea temperatures well into late October. Better still, sea temperatures remain warm well into late autumn.
