Liam and Noel Gallagher’s band have been teasing a 2027 tour announcement for the past week on social media
Oasis have officially confirmed they will be embarking on a tour in 2027, with a spectacular drone light display illuminating the skies above the Etihad Stadium in Manchester last night. The band’s iconic black and white logo blazed across the Manchester skyline at 11pm.
The drone display stretched 120 metres in length – the size of a football pitch – and launched from the ground of Man City’s women’s team, the Joie Stadium. It soared above the ground, next to the Etihad Stadium, for a full ten minutes before gradually fading away.
The band, fronted by reunited brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, have been teasing fans with cryptic social media posts throughout the past week, sending supporters into a frenzy. Each teaser has contained clues pointing to a different city or venue, leading many fans to conclude that a 2027 tour announcement was imminent.
Now, in the first official confirmation of what the band have been planning, the sky above the Etihad Stadium was illuminated by the group’s legendary emblem, bearing the simple message: “Oasis“. This was followed by the date of 14.9.26 at 4pm BST reports the Manchester Evening News.
The drone display unfolded just as thousands of rock fans were streaming out of the neighbouring Co-op Live arena following an Evanescence concert. Visible across Manchester, fans wasted no time sharing footage on social media, finally accepting that yes, Oasis Live 2027 is genuinely happening.
The selection of the Etihad Campus as the location for the light display all but confirms it will feature prominently on their tour itinerary. As the MEN revealed earlier this year, the Gallagher brothers have long been plotting a massive residency at their beloved Manchester City ground as part of a highly anticipated world tour.
Music industry insiders told the MEN back in July that Oasis were planning up to 12 nights at the Etihad Stadium, alongside an epic comeback to Knebworth Park for a record-breaking series of shows. However, the band’s initial teaser strongly hinted that Glasgow’s Celtic Park would host the opening gigs of next summer’s run.
This was swiftly followed by a teaser video depicting two lads playing football, featuring a blue moon image on a window frame and the number 11 scrawled on the wall as a goal tally — before one of the kids scored again, bringing it to 12. Many fans took this as a signal that the landmark Etihad Stadium residency could comprise up to 11 gigs during the highly anticipated live comeback next year.
Other cities and venues set to feature on the 2027 tour, according to the video teasers, include Munich, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Paris and Rome. Fans are also speculating that an American leg of the tour could take in Boston and Las Vegas.
Thursday night’s light display confirmed that the full announcement is due on Monday, September 14. The MEN understands from music industry sources that tickets are likely to go on sale by the end of next week.
If the last tour was anything to go by, it’s set to trigger the mother of all Ticketmaster scrambles.
Ever since the 2025 comeback tour drew to a close, fans have been eagerly awaiting news of a follow-up, so confirmation that 2027 is the year it will happen is music to their ears.
The spectacular light display follows a whirlwind return to the public eye for Liam, Noel and the rest of their Oasis bandmates since the start of September. The Burnage brothers travelled to Venice at the weekend, where they received a ten minute standing ovation following the world premiere of the new Disney+ documentary, Don’t Look Back in Anger, which charts their 2025 reunion.
The pair then flew back to the UK to attend the London film premiere, alongside fellow founder member Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs and band members from the 2025 tour, Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Christian Madden. They were also joined by a host of well-known faces from the worlds of television and sport, as well as Liam and Noel’s children, who the film revealed have all become the best of friends since the brothers healed their long-standing rift.
The movie premiered in selected cinemas on Wednesday, ahead of its worldwide general release on Friday. It will subsequently become available on the Disney+ streaming platform at an as-yet-undisclosed date.
