Sophia Stel returns with new single ‘Now I’ve Got A Lot You Know’.
The Vancouver artist released her project ‘How To Win A Solitaire’ last year, a sleeper hit propelled by word of mouth hype. Deviant lo-fi electronics reminiscent in places of early Grimes, it was built over after-hours shifts at DIY space Paradise.
The space itself has now shuttered, but Sophia’s rise continues. Working with chic tastemaker label A24, new single ‘Now I’ve Got A Lot You Know’ essentially allows her to take stock, a reflection on the shifts in her life.
Self-produced and written by Stel, she leaves the torn and tattered edges in place, an emphatically distinctive and personal piece of avant-pop.
Alongside the single Sophia Stel had built the video for ‘Now I’ve Got A Lot You Know’ – it features her two younger brothers, and documents her incredible journey over the last six months.
