Senior YSR Congress Party leader and former Andhra Pradesh minister Kodali Nani has made sensational claims about the wealth of his long-time associate and former Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi.
Speaking at a party meeting in Gudivada, Nani launched a strong attack on the TDP-led coalition government over the cases filed against Vamsi and said he was revealing details of Vamsi’s assets with his permission.
According to Nani, Vamsi owns around 200 acres of land in Hyderabad, with each acre allegedly valued at about Rs 50 crore.
“On that basis, Vamsi’s total assets are worth around Rs 10,000 crore,” Nani claimed.
Questioning the cases registered against Vamsi, Nani asked how a person allegedly possessing assets of such magnitude could be accused of selling gravel or house-site pattas meant for poor people.
Nani also said that neither Vamsi nor he would be intimidated by the cases or what he described as harassment by the coalition government.
The former minister said he could be the next target after Vamsi, apparently suggesting that he expected the government to initiate further action against him as well.
The coalition government has already registered several cases against Nani, but he has so far not been arrested and sent to jail in connection with any of them.
Despite the possibility of further legal action, Nani said he would contest the upcoming local body elections in accordance with YSRCP president and former Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s direction to fight for every possible position.
Nani ended with a defiant message to the ruling coalition, saying the party would enter the electoral battle prepared either for victory or, as he put it, “martyrdom.”
