Nigella Lawson is preparing to make her debut as the latest judge on the Great British Bake Off, joining Paul Hollywood beneath the iconic tent. The celebrated food writer and television chef, 66, steps into the role following Prue Leith’s exit.
While she’ll undoubtedly be kept busy with her new job, it appears Nigella has the ideal retreat to escape to. She is reported to reside in a £5million property in Chelsea, London, nestled on a quiet street lined with former stable conversions.
She moved into the residence in 2013 following her split from businessman husband Charles Saatchi. Although Nigella tends to keep her private life largely out of the public eye, she has occasionally offered glimpses inside her home.
It will come as little surprise that Nigella boasts a beautifully designed, spacious kitchen. It features pink cabinetry beneath the sink, light green cupboards elsewhere, and a deep green Aga.
Her pots and pans are proudly displayed, hanging from a metal beam overhead.
The culinary expert is evidently highly organised, with her kitchen also housing several pots, keeping her cutlery neatly separated.
Elsewhere in the property, Nigella has a snug library complete with a leather armchair and an impressive bookcase, which leads through to a conservatory bathed in natural light from expansive wall and ceiling windows.
Come evening, the space is transformed by the warm glow of fairy lights and lamps. Her home is also said to boast a private cinema and a wine cellar.
Nigella’s aesthetic extends beyond the interior of her home, as her garden resembles something from an enchanting storybook. Her urban sanctuary boasts an impressive variety of wildflowers.
The centrepiece of her outdoor area is a seating space beneath a canopy of trees, which cleverly offers shade and protection while integrating natural features.
To complete the look, Nigella has draped delicate fairy lights throughout the canopy, creating a stunning effect on summer evenings.
While Nigella hasn’t revealed the bedrooms of her property, it’s evident her love of food permeates every corner of her home. She told The Times that she is “very pro-eating in bed”.
The Bake Off judge added: “I will eat absolutely anything in bed except something that needs a knife and fork. It has to be either fingers or a spoon.”
