Nani wanted to build a pan-India image and expand his market. That was one of the reasons he took up “Dasara”, a rooted Telangana action drama that helped him connect strongly with the mass audience.
However, after “Dasara”, barring “Hi Nanna”, Nani has largely chosen films with a heavy dose of action. His upcoming “The Paradise” is arguably his most intense and rugged mass action film yet. After that, he will be seen in another action-oriented film, “Bloody Romeo”, directed by Sujeeth.
But Nani also knows that his strength lies in the fan base he built among family and class audiences. A prolonged run of mass films could risk taking him away from that space. It appears the actor is now keen to break this pattern after the release of “Bloody Romeo”.
Nani has indicated that he already knows what his next film will be, although it has not been announced yet. He made it clear that once the project is officially announced, audiences will get clarity on what kind of film it is. He also stressed that he is not moving away from family audiences.
Nani pointed out that he has never followed a particular trend in his career and has consistently moved between different genres. According to him, he is not following any trend even now.
So, after “The Paradise” and “Bloody Romeo”, Nani appears to be looking at a change of pace. His next choice could reveal whether he intends to return to the softer, family-oriented space that originally gave him a strong connect with audiences.
