The much-awaited debut of Nandamuri Mokshagna, son of Nandamuri Balakrishna, was recently announced by leading production house Mythri Movie Makers. “Vassishta” has been chosen to direct the film, which is expected to go on floors soon.
With the project now moving ahead, attention has shifted to the casting, particularly the choice of the female lead.
The latest buzz is that Sreeleela is being considered as the first heroine for Mokshagna. At 25, Sreeleela is close to Mokshagna in age, as he is already in his early 30s. On paper, the pairing could work well. However, there is another aspect that has prompted discussion among Nandamuri fans.
Mokshagna is making his debut relatively late, and there is curiosity about whether his first film should feature an actress who is already an established name in Telugu cinema. Sreeleela, despite being only 25, has been part of the industry for around six years and has already shared the screen with top stars including Pawan Kalyan, Mahesh Babu and Allu Arjun.
That naturally raises a question: would Sreeleela still provide the freshness expected from the heroine opposite a newcomer like Mokshagna?
The concern is not about their age compatibility, but about the perception of the pairing. Since Sreeleela has already worked with several established stars, some fans feel that a relatively new face might create a fresher combination for Mokshagna’s launch.
Mokshagna was earlier supposed to make his debut under the direction of Prasanth Varma, with the project announced a couple of years ago. However, the film did not materialise, and the reasons for its shelving were never officially detailed.
Now, with Mythri Movie Makers backing the new project and Vassishta at the helm, expectations are naturally high around Mokshagna’s launch. The choice of his heroine will be one of the key casting decisions.
Interestingly, Balakrishna shares a good rapport with Sreeleela. She played a daughter-like role alongside him in “Bhagavanth Kesari”, and he has spoken warmly about her on several occasions.
Whether Sreeleela will eventually be paired with Mokshagna remains to be seen. For now, it is only a casting buzz, and the makers are yet to officially announce the female lead.
