Chester Zoo advertises tickets for ‘child predator tour’

The zoo blamed the mishap on a computer error

Chester Zoo has blamed a computer error after it advertised a “child predator tour” online. The famous zoo advertised tickets for a 90-minute bus tour to see animals including tigers, lions, rhinos and Komodo dragons under the unfortunate name as part of a promotion earlier this week.

Bosses at the famous zoo quickly changed the name, with a spokesperson telling the BBC that the error was “due to our default naming convention in our system”.

The predator tour is advertised online with the description: “Discover the iconic predators of the animal kingdom and their prey in our very unique guided tour.”

The private bus tour cost £25 for children. “Adult predator” tickets were also advertised by mistake for £30.

The zoo’s website said: “Discover the predators of the animal kingdom, and their prey in our brand new guided tour. You’ll be the first visitors in the zoo as you board our electric tour bus and enjoy 90 minutes of the zoo all to yourself.

“Come face to face with some of the zoo’s most iconic animals, away from the crowds, including our family of Sumatran tigers. Your expert tour guides will be on hand to share fascinating facts about some of nature’s most effective hunters.”

A screenshot of the blunder was shared on X with the accompanying post: “Let’s all go to Chester Zoo for the…child predator tour”.

One person remarked: “I hope this has been cleared by Cheshire Police – seems a bit dangerous.”

Another said: “Staggering – how did that get approved?”

The Metro reported that when you try to book the experience now the “predator” details has been removed from the list, advertising the options simply as adult tour, child tour, and carer tour.
