One buyer said: “I love how these lamps add a warm and vintage look to my lounge”
With the long-awaited release of Practical Magic 2 this weekend, fans are getting ready to return to the magical world of the Owens sisters. For those of us who love all things witchy, the original film’s cosy, romantic and slightly gothic interiors have become just as iconic as its characters, with warm lighting, whimsical textiles and vintage-inspired furniture.
If you want to add a touch of magic to your own home without committing to a full mystical makeover, a few choice pieces could be just the thing. From faded rugs and pretty florals to dark wood furniture and opulent velvets, the moody vintage style is perfect for this time of year.
If spooky old houses have taught us anything, it’s that the big light is never the answer. Table lamps and standard lamps create a warm, atmospheric glow that makes a room feel instantly cosier, and Dunelm shoppers think they may have found just the thing in the Colleen Glass Table Lamp, which adds a tasteful dose of antique charm.
Priced at £49, the lamp has a traditional shape and green glass design that would pair beautifully with wooden furniture, patterned fabrics and other vintage-inspired accessories. Better still, the green glass gives it a modern edge, so it adds a touch of old-world charm without making your home feel dated or overly traditional.
Measuring 41cm x 28cm, the lamp features a 1.2m clear cable with an inline switch. It requires one 4W LED Candle SES (E14) bulb, which is not included.

The green glass lamp looks ‘magical’
For an even more effective look, switch out the plain white lampshade for something like the Ticking Stripe Velvet Drum Lamp Shade for £25. Also from Dunelm is a choice of four rich hues, serving up subtle retro styling.
If the green glass design isn’t quite right, Marks and Spencer has the £80 Helmingham Metal & Fabric Table Lamp that wouldn’t look out of place in the Owens sisters’ house. The hexagonal, matte antique brass base features printed fabric panelling for an elevated look and claw feet bring a touch of opulence.
Elsewhere at Argos, the Home Nyx Metal Table Lamp is a £15 bargain buy that oozes steampunk styling. Adding some industrial chic with an exposed bulb and a powder-coated steel design, the lamp is suitable for bedside tables, desks and more.
For fans of the films who really want to go for it, style-wise, the Argos is also selling the Tiffany Zinc Alloy Stained Glass Table Lamp for £64.99. A stained glass lamp is a must for any period property, especially one that’s home to would-be witches.
Back at Dunelm, the Colleen Glass Table Lamp has been given a 4.6 out of five-star rating. One buyer said: “I love how these lamps add a warm and vintage look to my lounge. The quality and pricing is excellent. The green base is a little lighter than shown in the picture, but it’s perfect in my lounge.”
Another said: “A lovely glass table lamp with a retro feel to it. Love the olive green colour of the base.”
A third called it ‘beautiful’, adding: “Lovely lamp and very nice colour, had lots of compliments about it in my flat.”
Some buyers were disappointed with the plain white lampshade, with one noting: “Lovely base which looks expensive. The lampshade is not of such good quality, so I switched it for another. Now perfect for my hall table.”
A different buyer thought it was a good choice, however, saying: “Love it: it’s my second one, I love how it looks in my bedroom on my bedside table, so many people have commented how nice it is – a fantastic buy.”
