This actress spent much of her earlier career playing the perky and popular blonde in movies during the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Her breakthrough role was in the 1993 coming-of-age sports comedy The Sandlot, where her character drove the boys wild merely by existing and tending to her job as the neighborhood pool lifeguard.

She played Tobey Maguire‘s love interest in the 1998 comedy Pleasantville, which also starred Reese Witherspoon

Then she landed a supporting role in 1999’s romantic comedy Never Been Kissed starring Drew Barrymore.

Earlier this week, the actress was spotted enjoying a vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with her film producer husband and their two teenaged daughters.

Can you guess who she is?

If you said Marley Shelton, you guessed right.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Shelton’s representative for comment.

On Tuesday, the still-very busy actress traded the set for the beach as she enjoyed the sunshine south of the border with her family, and looking fabulously fit in a bikini with green top and mauve bottoms.

Her famous blonde bob was twisted into a knot at the back of her head and a red-and-white baseball cap kept the sun’s glare out of her eyes.

The day’s excursion included a walk with her husband, film producer Beau Flynn, 56, and at another point she was seen doting on her daughters, West, 17, and Ruby, 14.

Shelton is perhaps best known for playing lifeguard Wendy Peffercorn in The Sandlot, which told the story of a group of young baseball players during the summer of 1962.

The movie starred Tom Guiry, Mike Vitar, Karen Allen, Denis Leary and James Earl Jones, but clearly Shelton was a stand-out star on her own.

Though Shelton wasn’t featured on The Sandlot’s theatrical release movie poster, there were lots of signed publicity stills of Shelton at the pool printed and sold as wall art at the time.

Shelton anchored her status as a teen genre star in the dark comedy Sugar & Spice and the slasher film Valentine, both released in 2001.

But Shelton soon transitioned from teen-movie staple to mature film and television character actor.

She joined the Scream franchise playing Deputy – and later Sheriff – Judy Hicks in Scream 4 (2011) and the 2022 Scream sequel.

‘I couldn’t believe it. I was over the moon,’ Shelton told ET’s Matt Cohen about learning her character would be returning for another sequel.

‘We shot Scream 4 about 10 years ago and that was already just a huge honor to join because I am a huge fan.

‘This franchise is so unique,’ she added. ‘Like, the tone is so absolutely terrifying, yet funny and meta and self-referencing and character driven.’

With the 2022 sequel, Shelton said, ‘We set [out] to do right by that and do it again.’

Shelton has enjoyed a steady continuity of roles into recent years.

She starred as Emma Dutton in the Yellowstone prequel 1923 (2022-2023).

Her character was the wife of John Dutton Sr and the mother of Jack Dutton, and after her husband was killed by Banner Creighton (Jerome Flynn) and his men, Emma’s storyline met a tragic conclusion as well.

In 2024, Shelton had the guest role of Erika Kennedy in episode four, season one of the CBS action drama Tracker.

She played Lydia Reed in three episodes of Matlock in 2025.

The versatile actress recently wrapped production on the indie drama Road to Recovery directed by Scout Taylor-Compton. It follows a sick teen named Sadie (Ryan Kiera Armstrong) and her father Tom (Freddie Prinze Jr) who travel across the US in search of the boy Sadie loves.

Still, the image of Wendy Peffercorn in her red bathing suit in The Sandlot will live on in the memory of her fans.

‘I’m shocked! Initially, people liked the movie but nobody thought it was going to have the legs that it did and become this cult classic,’ Shelton told Us Weekly in 2018.

‘I think it had something to do with it being this very coming of age story.

‘It’s such a fun movie — there are so many great throwback moments. I think it’s still relatable. Something about baseball and adolescence and that simpler time in life, I think people really relate to.

‘I’m always so flattered when people recognize me from it because it was 25 years ago! I’m like, “Wow thanks, I’m glad you recognize me as Wendy Peffercorn.”‘

She added: ‘I love when we get sent pictures of people dressing up as them for Halloween. It’s such a riot. There are some great costumes out there that probably rival the original.’
