Wagging Rights promises to be a cosy autumn watch and features a whole host of stars, including Sara Pascoe and Rhod Gilbert.
I’m A Celebrity star Vicky Pattison is returning to screens in a heartwarming new show that’s a must if you’re an animal lover.
Wagging Rights is available to watch on U&W and U&Dave will be hitting screens this evening (September 13) at 8pm. The six-part series follows a group of celebrities competing in a dog challenge to train their disobedient canines with the aid of professional dog trainers, reports Wales Online.
The dog who scores highest in all of the challenges across the areas of obedience, agility, scentwork, freestyle and ball sports will be crowned the winner. Each episode sees the stars and their pets taking on a different challenge and racking up points from the discerning judges Kay Atwood and Nigel Reed, who at one point in the show is described as “Simon Howell” thanks to his tough critique.
Ahead of the new series, Vicky opened up about starring the in show with her Labrador Milo. The 38-year-old star from Newcastle-upon-Tyne explained: “So many people in Britain have dogs and they’re no longer seen as just pets. They’re part of our family, and Wagging Rights encapsulates that beautifully.”
The former Geordie Shore star continued: “And one of my huge motivations for doing it was that I felt passionately that I wanted to advocate for rescue dogs and show how beautiful they can be, how much love they’ve got to give, and how much they deserve a home.”
Vicky faced some stiff competition from her fellow famous faces including actress Sara Pascoe of Taskmaster fame, Rhod Gilbert from Never Mind the Buzzcocks, comedian and writer Kate Kurd, and star of Prime Video’s LOL: Last One Laughing UK Harriet Kemsley. All of the stars will be sharing their various canine journeys that promises to make Wagging Rights a perfect, cosy weekend watch.
On coming out as the top dog on Wagging Rights, Vicky admitted she was “under no impression” that the human-dog duo would “win anything at any point”. Nonetheless, she said they had a “lovely time and that’s all that mattered to me”.
She added: “Getting to spend some time with my dogs as a job was a privilege I’m not normally afforded. It was a dream come true.” Milo was a rescue dog that Vicky and her husband, fashion entrepreneur and former TOWIE favourite Eric Ercan, adopted together after putting their names down at various rescue centres and re-homing shelters that she’d previously volunteered at.
Vicky was originally supposed to be participating on the programme with both Milo and her other dog Max, but he was ill the day before filming and so unable to take part. She revealed: “We were besides ourselves with worry, as anyone would be. So, my focus was split at some points, which is understandable.”
She went on to share her hopes about the series: “I think viewers will absolutely love Wagging Rights. If you’re a dog lover, it’s an absolute must-watch.”
