Blade Runner’s Official 2027 Return Is Something Completely Different

Blade Runner’s Official 2027 Return Is Something Completely Different

Adapted from Philip K. Dick’s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, Blade Runner became one of the most popular movies of the 80s with its fanbase celebrating its nods to the original source, performances from the likes of Harrison Ford, Sean Young, and Rutger Hauer, and its neon-soaked visuals that are still memorable to this day.

Although the original Blade Runner went on to inspire a sequel, Blade Runner 2049, back in 2017, as well as the upcoming miniseries, Blade Runner 2099, there is no denying that the original revolutionized the dystopian genre and has since become the inspiration behind many sci-fi stories and settings.

There is something about getting to see the not-so-distant future in all its glory that has always appealed to us, so it is no surprise that the return of Blade Runner has captured fan’s attention, especially as it arrives in a very unique way.

Courtesy of Behaviour Interactive and PHI Studio, Blade Runner is expected to offer a brand-new immersive experience in North America in 2027. Announced back in May, this immersive experience inspired by the Blade Runner universe is developed in collaboration with Alcon Entertainment, the owners of the Blade Runner IP, and “will further strengthen the immersive entertainment landscape” according to the official press release.

For Dominique Lebel, Senior Vice President, and Shahinaze Hachem, Head of Immersive Entertainment at Behaviour Interactive, “Blade Runner is a work that has shaped the collective imagination. We are honored to collaborate with Alcon Entertainment and PHI Studio to deliver an experience that pushes the boundaries of immersion. This project also marks a new chapter in Behaviour’s positioning beyond video games.”

As such, this immersive experience will see fans immerse themselves in a striking dystopian world, featuring a rich narrative, memorable aesthetics, and the “philosophical essence” of the original Ridley Scott movie. By bringing Behaviour Interactive on board, which is best known for creative and technical strengths in the video game sector, with PHI Studio, a pioneer in the creation and presentation of engaging immersive experiences, fans can expect the ultimate immersive experience.

The Blade Runner immersive experience will head to North America cities, beginning in 2027, with exact locations and information set to be announced in the upcoming months.
