As any Swiftie worth their “22” bowler hat knows, there are always clues, if you know where to look for them. And at the 2026 Emmys, host Mariska Hargitay, drawing on her storied history as TV detective Olivia Benson on Law & Order: SVU, certainly knows where to look for Taylor Swift.
In a pre-taped sketch, Hargitay (as Benson) walked her team through a yarn wall of Easter eggs trying to determine whether Swift would attend the night’s ceremony. Then another notable detective entered the scene to crack the case once and for all: Swift herself, her cat, also named Olivia Benson, in her arms.

“Maybe she’s gonna do one of those cool pre-taped sketch things to support the host,” she said, sly. Asked whether she thinks Swift would sing, she offered a firm, “No.”
And, because it wouldn’t be a day that ends in y without Swift dropping something that’s cryptic enough to baffle but specific enough that you know it has to mean something, Swift as not-Swift turned during the skit and spoke directly to the camera: “I think what we’re gonna be looking for is hiding in plain sight: saccharide, Aries, from the vineyard, north or south.”
What even is that? The name of a new Swiftian Broadway show? Song titles? A Winter Soldier-style trigger sequence to unlock someone’s killer instinct from a distance? (Diabolical, and also would totally be a great plot point on Scandal if it was still on.) Doubtless, intrepid Swifties are already hard at work deciphering it.
