Sampoornesh Babu is set to surprise audiences with his role as Biryani in Nani’s “The Paradise”. Known largely for his comic roles, the actor says this is one of the most serious and different characters he has played.
“I got a call from director Srikanth Odela and when he narrated the character, it felt very new to me. It is a serious role and completely different from my previous characters,” he said.
Sampoornesh plays Nani’s best friend and appears throughout the film. He says getting a character like Biryani earlier in his career might have helped him avoid some mistakes.
“If I had received such a character three years ago, some mistakes in my career might not have happened. Working with Nani and Srikanth has been a great experience.”
Calling “The Paradise” the biggest film he has worked on, Sampoornesh said the makers placed a lot of trust in him. He also praised Nani for making him comfortable on the sets and appreciating his performances.
Director Sai Rajesh also encouraged him to take up the role when Srikanth’s team approached him. Sampoornesh is equally excited about sharing screen space with Mohan Babu, which he describes as a long-time dream.
For Biryani, he lost weight and grew his hair and beard as instructed by Srikanth. He also decided not to sign another film until completing “The Paradise”, despite receiving other offers.
