Emmys 2026 Ratings Down With Mariska Hargitay As Host On NBC

Mariska Hargitay may have kicked off this year’s Emmys with a tribute to TV screens, but fewer of those screens were tuned in to the ceremony this time around.

Monday’s Emmys ceremony on NBC drew a total of 6.7 million viewers across all platforms, according to preliminary numbers, TVLine has learned. That’s down nearly 10 percent from the previous year, when the CBS broadcast hosted by Nate Bargatze pulled in 7.42 million viewers. This year’s edition did improve on the latest Emmys to air on a Monday night, however, with Fox’s broadcast earning just 4.4 million linear viewers in January 2024. (You may remember there were actually two Emmy ceremonies held in 2024, with the 2023 ceremony delayed due to the Hollywood writers’ and actors’ strikes.)

“Law & Order: SVU” star Hargitay took over hosting duties this year, with the big winners including HBO Max’s “The Pitt,” which won a second straight Emmy for best drama series, and Apple TV’s freshman phenom “Widow’s Bay,” which set a record for the most wins in one year by a comedy series with 14.
