Los Angeles musician Tin Lung has shared his debut EP, titled ‘EP 1’, out via Lavoir Records.
A new electronic project, Tin Lung’s ‘EP 1’ is a marked departure from producer and artist’s Rett Smith’s rock repertoire.
Comprised of four tracks, this cavernous new work represents a creative pivot for the musician. It’s solely an analog creation; no software instruments, no AI. Tin Lung’s sound sits at the intersection between the desolate, dystopian sounds of Burial and Boards of Canada, and the deconstructed industrial flair of early Arca.
Of the project, Smith says:
“Tin Lung is my music in its purest form. I’ve been creating nonstop in sonic seclusion, a creative rebirth, and the most free I’ve ever felt as an artist. This music isn’t new to me, I’ve lived inside it for decades; it’s only new as my output.”
The EP was recorded in Los Angeles at Smith’s own studio Tularosa Sound, and mastered by frequent collaborator Stefan Brown at Abbey Road Studios, London. Smith’s previous credits also include guitar work on Hudson Mohawke’s ‘Cry Sugar’.
‘EP 1’ is the opening transmission ahead of a debut full-length expected March 2027.
