Mariah Carey was spotted in public during New York Fashion Week, and fans outside her hotel got a special treat from Mimi.
Carey has been seen rocking some chic and relaxed looks in the Big Apple during NYFW. On Sept. 10, Carey made headlines when she was photographed sporting distressed Acne Studios jeans priced at $850 with a $580 layered mesh top that had a graphic design on it. She accessorized her outfit with Gucci sunglasses and brown Hermès platform sandals.
Then on Sept. 14, cameras captured Carey leaving The Peninsula New York. She held her bodyguard’s hand while navigating the hotel stairs and rocked a brown sweater, with a brown miniskirt, and Gucci boots as she headed toward a waiting vehicle. But the “We Belong Together” songstress gave the people what they wanted before her car pulled away as she signed as many autographs for her Lambs as she possibly could.
Some though were left wondering why Carey was leaving a hotel in New York City when she owns a penthouse in Manhattan. Well, the answer could be that there were showings that day.
In April 2026, Carey listed her longtime residence, which was featured during a memorable episode of MTV Cribs on Jan. 7, 2002, for $27 million.
Back in 1999, MC purchased two apartments at 90 Franklin Street–a $5.5 million penthouse and the $3.5 million unit below it–and combined them into one triplex. The three-floor apartment has eight bedrooms, seven full bathrooms, and three half bathrooms. There’s also a grand foyer, limestone-and-bronze-plated floors, and a Turkish-style banquette large enough to host a dinner party.
Marilyn Monroe‘s white baby grand piano that Carey purchased at auction for more than $600,000 occupies a prime spot in the living room. The penthouse also boasts panoramic windows with unobstructed views of the city skyline. Other amenities include a home gym, a movie theater that doubles as an aquarium, and a large rooftop terrace.
Days before the “Fantasy” hitmaker was seen leaving the luxury hotel, she posted photo booth pictures of herself with her 15-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe. In the snap, they are making funny faces and holding up peace signs. Carey captioned it, “Twinning.”
Fans couldn’t believe how grown up the “Dem Babies” looked.
“Not babies anymore,” one person wrote.
“Omg I remember when you first had them,” another said.
“Them Teens are growing up beautifully, just like their mama!!” a third chimed in, while a fourth added, “Gorgeous kids and a beautiful mother.”
Others commented that they think Rocky looks a lot like his father. Carey and Nick Cannon tied the knot in 2008 and welcomed the kids in 2011. They separated in 2014 and finalized their divorce in 2016, but have maintained a solid co-parenting relationship over the years.
