Huge 80s band announced to play at Chester races

The tour heads to the UK for nine dates

A huge band has been announced for a ‘very special’ UK and European tour including one date in Chester Racecourse. Simply Red will be bringing the ‘Summer Funk ‘27’ to the UK next August featuring some of their biggest hits.

‘Summer Funk ‘27’ will be Simply Red’s first tour since their 2025 40th anniversary celebration. The tour sold-out almost 50 venues across the UK, Europe and Latin America.

The pop and soul will be performing at Chester racecourse on August 7 2027 and will be joined by English soul singer and lead vocalist of the band M People Heather Small and Soul II Soul.

The band, Mick Hucknall, Ian Kirkham, Kenji Suzuki , Kevin Robinson, Roman Roth, Gary Sanctuary and Orefo Orakwue will perform some their biggest tracks including ‘Fairground’ ‘Something Got Me Started’ and ‘Money’s Too Tight (To Mention)’.

Mick Hucknall said: “We can’t wait to get back out on the road again in summer 2027 to perform at some incredible and historic venues across the UK and Europe. You can expect a set full of Simply Red upbeat hits to get you on your feet having fun in the sun with friends and family.”

Simply Red have maintained their position as one of the UK’s biggest bands throughout their 40+ year history including five number one albums, nine top 10 hits and many awards.

Fans can access a pre-sale for tickets for the tour by signing up to the Simply Red mailing list. The UK pre-sale opens at 10am Tuesday and remaining UK tickets go on general sale at 10am Thursday via Ticketmaster.
