The owners of a popular Uppermill restaurant have announced their ‘comeback’ after a devastating fire left the future of the venue uncertain.
Hot Duck, on High Street, was badly damaged when a fire broke out at the building it shares with Hei Hei Chinese takeaway on Sunday, September 6.
The incident saw the surrounding area closed off for almost five hours, with six fire engines in attendance to help extinguish the blaze and three people assessed by paramedics for smoke inhalation at the scene.

Now, the owners have shared pictures online showing the extent of the damage. Posting on Instagram, they said: “It has been a difficult week.
“These photos show some of the substantial damage caused by the fire. There’s no doubt we have a huge amount of work ahead of us.”
The owners thanked Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service for its response, as well as friends in the building trade who ‘acted immediately’ to help recover the building.
They said work had already begun to make the building safe, clear the damage and begin the recovery just days after the fire.
They said: “Considering where we were only a few days ago, an incredible amount has already been achieved. There’s still a long way to go, but the comeback has begun.”
Hei Hei first opened as a Chinese takeaway in 2016, later expanding with the upstairs Hot Duck restaurant and Dim Sum bar three years ago after proving popular with locals.
The restaurant will remain closed while efforts continue to rebuild the venue, with the owners planning to share weekly updates of their journey on social media as they work to recover their beloved restaurant.
Their post shared that they were grateful for the support they had received from the local community since the fire, and appealed for their customers and supporters to follow their progress online as the rebuilding work continues.
