EXCLUSIVE: We’re getting word that Obsession star Megan Lawless is taking the lead in director Stephanie Donnelly’s feature directorial debut, Crushed.
In the romantic comedy, Lawless plays Joss, who is a romantic at heart. But she never seems to have crushes who feel the same way about her. Joss sets on a quest to find one perfect crush that might be the perfect person for her. The movie is currently shooting in Chicago.
Lawless starred as Sarah opposite Inde Navarrette’s Nikki and Michael Johnston’s Bear in the Curry Barker directed Obsession which Focus Features acquired for $15M out of last year’s TIFF Midnight Madness and which minted well over a half billion at the global box office. The movie is also Focus’ highest grossing movie ever, in addition to being the highest grossing film acquisition ever made out of a festival. In Obsession, Sarah is a close friend to Bear, and might even have a crush on him. She knows he’s going through a tough time with Nikki.
Lawless also starred opposite Amandla Stenberg and Sabrina Carpenter in The Hate U Give, in addition to the Hulu limited series, The Girl From Plainville. The actress is repped by Alexander White Agency, 42 and Yorn, Levine, Barnes, Krintzman, Rubenstein, Kohner, Endlich, Goodell & Gellman.
