Jason Sanjay, son of Tamil superstar and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, is making his directorial debut with “Sigma”, starring Sundeep Kishan and Faria Abdullah. Despite the director’s high-profile family background, the film has not generated the expected level of buzz so far, leaving much of the promotional responsibility on Sundeep Kishan and the team.
The bigger challenge for Sundeep Kishan is his box-office pull. Despite being in the industry for several years and having built good connections in the Tamil film industry, particularly with young filmmakers, he has not yet established himself as a strong opening-day draw.
He has been getting interesting projects and continues to work across Telugu and Tamil cinema, but his films have not consistently translated that visibility into strong theatrical openings. His recent Netflix series also failed to create much impact or sustained conversation.
As a result, “Sigma” is not getting the kind of attention one might expect from a film marking Vijay’s son Jason Sanjay’s directorial debut. Sundeep Kishan is also facing the challenge of carrying much of the promotional campaign without having a strong theatrical pull of his own.
“Sigma” is scheduled to hit the screens on October 2.
