Cork risers BABYRAT have unleashed their debut single ‘Roses’.
The four-piece have already sparking hype in Ireland, with the Cork group playing key supports across their home country. Word is already drifting over the sea – BABYRAT channel the scuzzy immediacy of early Strokes, the rock glamour of Paramore, and have their own engaging brand of lyricism.
Debut single ‘Roses’ is out now, and it’s an all-out blaster. A carefully defined introductory statement, it finds BABYRAT flipping the script – channelling the point when love curdles and the flowers of romance begin to wither, there’s a dark edge to their indie pop sensibilities.
The band comment:
“‘Roses’ is about love turning to spite in a coming-of-age setting. The reason it’s the opening song in every set is the same reason why it is our first release, it’s the perfect introduction to us and sets the tone for what we are and what’s to come.”
