Coronation Street’s Jack P Shepherd unveils hair transplant live on GMB

The Coronation Street actor unveiled his new look on Good Morning Britain, six months after undergoing a hair transplant.

Jack P Shepherd has shown off the results of his hair transplant during an appearance on Good Morning Britain.

The Coronation Street actor joined his co-star Julia Goulding on the ITV programme via video link, as they filmed on-set from The Rovers. While they teased upcoming storylines, the former Celebrity Big Brother star also mentioned his appearance.

Presenter Richard Arnold said: “Jack, I have to say, I haven’t seen you since you’ve had a cheeky little glow-up and a makeover yourself. You’re looking good mate!”

Jack laughed back: “I got a hair transplant three months back, so we’re halfway through, so hopefully at Christmas time I’ll be Elvis!”

Richard replied: “Jack, you look absolutely great, as indeed you do, Julia. Thanks for joining us from the Rovers, with a couple as tightly woven as Jack’s new weave!”

Jack had taken some time away from Coronation Street after taking paternity leave, with his wife, Hanni Treweek, giving birth to their daughter Constance in June. When he returned to the soap, he was sporting his new look.

Talking about his hair transplant on the On The Sofa podcast, Jack shared: “I could see [the hairline] further back in the middle. I could see it going in. So it was sort of act now while I could, and I had a bit of time off for the baby, so it was perfect.”

His absence from the soap was explained by his character, David, visiting his mum, Gail, in France. When he returned, Shona (Julia) asked him about his newly shaven head, to which David quipped: “I’ve got lice,” before explaining that he fancied a change.

He also revealed his head after the transplant on the On The Sofa podcast in June, with Colson Smith admitting that he “liked” Jack’s shaved head, adding: “I think it’s a look.”

Jack told his podcast co-hosts that he didn’t have any swelling, despite them insisting he did. He went on: “They’ve taken [the hair] from the back… he said I’ve got a great donor-space at the back.”

He explained that it took him six hours to have, and revealed that his doctor had told him that if he hadn’t gone to see him, he’d be bald by now.

Jack added, “The other times I’ve had it done, I kept my hair, I didn’t shave it, this is the first time I’ve shaved my hair, and I didn’t know this, but you get a lot more hair follicles if you shave the head. If you have to go in between hairs, it’s more difficult. So the two times I’ve had it done, hairs put in, I’ve had 3,000. This one is 4,000.”
