Brad Pitt will be returning to the role of Gerry Lane for the upcoming World War Z sequel.
The Oscar-winning actor starred in the 2013 movie, which was a box office hit with a $540 million gross worldwide.
While the first movie was directed by Marc Foster, the sequel is going to be helmed by Oscar-nominee Edward Berger, who Brad recently worked with on the upcoming movie The Riders. He is best known for directing All Quiet on the Western Front and Conclave. The former earned him a Best Adapted Screenplay nomination at the 2023 Oscars.
The global disaster movie followed “a former United Nations worker who travels the planet in a mad search for a cure to the zombie outbreak.” THR notes that a sequel has been in the works for years and other directors who were previously attached include JA Bayona and David Fincher.
Brad will next be seen in the movie Heart of the Beast, which opens in theaters on September 25.
Brad just attended a Heart of the Beast dog rescue event at Copperline Ranch in Hermitage, Tennessee on Thursday (September 17).
