Audiences are about to get the chance to revisit Attack on Titan as a cinematic experience as Crimson Bow and Arrow makes its official return to theaters, with a new trailer released for the occasion.
Per Mantan Web, Attack on Titan Part 1: Crimson Bow and Arrow is officially heading to theaters next month. Attack on Titan Part 1: Crimson Bow and Arrow will be available in select theaters in Japan beginning Oct. 23 in 4DK and ULTRA 4DK formats — as well as in ScreenX, in a surprising first for the franchise.
Attack on Titan: Crimson Bow and Arrow Returns With the Franchise’s First-Ever ScreenX Release
The official logline for Attack on Titan Part 1: Crimson Bow and Arrow reads, “In a world ravaged by giant, human-eating creatures called Titans, a young man becomes humankind’s only hope to recover their freedom.”
Notably, this won’t be the first time Crimson Bow and Arrow has hit theaters. The film was originally released in 2014, just one year after the fan-favorite Attack on Titan anime series premiered. This first movie in the franchise covers the events of the first 13 episodes of the series, while its 2015 follow-up, Attack on Titan Part 2: Wings of Freedom, covers the next dozen episodes from Attack on Titan Season 1.
Upon its release, Attack on Titan Part 1: Crimson Bow and Arrow was met with generally favorable reviews from both critics and audiences. As of writing, it holds a 7.7/10 rating via the Internet Movie Database (IMDb), as averaged across more than 4,600 reviews of the film.
While the Attack on Titan anime series based on Hajime Isayama’s original manga ran for an impressive 94 episodes across four seasons (plus several OVA releases), compilation films like Attack on Titan Part 1: Crimson Bow and Arrow offered audiences the chance to take in the broad strokes of the story in a less intensive format. The fifth and final compilation film, Attack on Titan: The Last Attack, was released in 2024 to resounding acclaim.
The franchise’s epic conclusion marked what was by far the largest battle that Attack on Titan had ever seen, as well as a major turning point for almost every main character who had survived up to that point. Unsurprisingly, Attack on Titan: The Last Attack garnered rave reviews, with that film currently holding an 8.9.10 rating via IMDb, as averaged across more than 37,000 reviews.
Audiences across North America were given the chance to revisit Attack on Titan: The Last Attack this summer, courtesy of anime streaming giant Crunchyroll and its Crunchyroll Anime Nights initiative. Although there are currently no plans for another return to the silver screen for The Last Attack, another re-release could potentially be around the corner, given that Crimson Bow and Arrow is setting up another run at the box office for the entire film series.
