It’s moving into a local brewery and hinted a name change

A Bristol cafe and bakery which was asked to move from its home of 10 years so its landlords could change it back to a church, has found a new home in an independent brewery elsewhere in the city.
The team at The Orchard Coffee Co shared a video of the new space on Mina Road in St Werburghs and wrote: “We’re coming back.
“After everything that’s happened with The Orchard, we weren’t quite ready to disappear just yet. We’re incredibly excited to announce that we’re taking over Fierce & Noble in St Werburghs.
“Same obsession with good coffee, great beer, proper pastries and bringing people together but a new home, a new chapter and a new direction. “There’s going to be a lot of change over the coming months… including a new name. A brewery, a roastery, a bakery, a place to eat, drink, hang out and, most importantly, gather.
“This is only the beginning. Watch this space.”
BristolLive reported in June that the St George coffee shop, which also had a branch in Stokes Croft, announced it would be closing for good on August 30.
The team said at the time: “Our landlords have made the decision to take the building back in order to return it to its former use as a church. This was completely out of our hands.
“Over the past months, we’ve explored every avenue available to us from negotiations to alternative proposals but unfortunately the decision had been made and none of our efforts were enough to change the outcome.
“It is incredibly heartbreaking to know that something we have spent the last 10 years building a business, a community and a second home for so many people is being taken away from us. The Orchard has never just been a building. It represents a decade of hard work, sacrifice, passion, friendships, memories and countless moments shared with all of you.
“We always hoped this story would continue. We wanted the opportunity to keep growing, keep serving our community and keep building on everything we had created together. Sadly, that opportunity has been taken out of our hands.”
The team added that the Stokes Croft site would remain open under the stewardship of manager Ethan, who would be taking it over and turning it into ‘his own dream coffee shop’.
Fans of The Orchard were quick to share their opinions on the news. One said: “Gutted you won’t be within walking distance anymore, but can’t wait to visit!”
A second wrote: “Well done guys, congrats! To be honest I’m still annoyed about the closure, have had to spend a small fortune on a fancy home coffee machine.. but yeah new site looks cool!”
While a third commented: “Great news! Can’t wait to come and check out the new venue. With your big heart and brilliant ideas we know it will be a success.”
